“Like most people, my goals in life are to stay healthy and maintain high energy. The moment I spoke to Dr. Alexis Shields I knew I found someone who could help me massively. The help she has given me and some of my friends since then has been immense.”

“Dr. Shields did for me what my mainstream doctor could not and I finally feel normal again! For at least two years, I had been feeling excessively fatigued. No amount of sleep could keep my mind and body alert throughout the day… In one visit, Dr. Shields identified the source of my fatigue and confirmed it with two simple tests… I highly recommend Dr. Shields if you want to regain and maintain your health.”
“I find it very beneficial to talk with an expert who actually listens and then gives such positive and helpful feedback. I refer to Dr. Alexis as my secret weapon when it comes to my training. To train knowing that I am eating right and managing my body well gives me a huge advantage over other athletes.”
Competitive cyclist and triathlete
At 16 years old I started to develop some very serious health problems that changed everything.
I’d been experiencing frequent migraines and digestive problems for months. My weekly Ibuprofen habit turned to daily and my health continued to spiral. Allergies, severe abdominal bloating, migraines, brain fog, body pain, fatigue… and on and on.
I took daily medications to manage my symptoms and then more medications to manage the side effects of those medications. This balancing act went on for years.
When I started medical school, I realized that in order to help my patients to heal I needed to focus on my own health first. And, I quickly learned that everything that I thought I knew about health and nutrition was wrong. Low-fat and sugar-free processed food is not the path to health.
Luckily I had four years to learn as much as I could about how to heal the body with natural medicine. I experimented endlessly while in medical school and saw miracles in my own health and countless other colleagues and patients. What began as a journey to heal a disease, became a quest for optimal health.
Great health is so much more than just the absence of disease. This realization started my desire to learn new ways to optimize health and performance.
I spent years ignoring my health, suffering needlessly, and relying on drugs and surgery that only provided a temporary band-aid. Fortunately, after four years of Naturopathic medical school, I learned a very important lesson – you can heal yourself, it’s never too late.
When you pay attention to your health and monitor it regularly you can prevent, and even heal, disease.
